JARROD LEE, VP OMAS
|
Name-Jarrod Lee Birthday-October 17 1974 Family-married with a 10 year old girl Time in hobby-since Sept. 04 Current tanks-110 mixed reef and a 20 gallon winter time
prop tank. I'm Jarrod Lee I've been in he hobby since Sep. of 04.I have a 110 gallon reef with a Diy 55 gallon sump. This hobby has got to be one of the greatest things I've done. I've made so many new friends and the most important thing is that its brought myself and my family closer in something that we all can enjoy and learn from. JARROD'S TANK Jarrod’s tank is a 110 gallon (60”x18”x24”) Oceanic tank with a custom canopy built by a cabinetmaker in Arkansas. He upgraded to this tank in September 2006, from a 58 gallon Oceanic. It has a Coralife Superskimmer 125, and is plumbed to a 55 gallon DIY sump/refugium through dual corner overflows, powered by a Mag 18 return pump. This pump, in conjunction with a variety of power heads, allows him to achieve a maximal flow of ~3400 gallons per hour. His lighting system includes 425 watts of 14K metal halides supplemented by two 6500 K and two actinic VHOs. He doses calcium every other day, and iodine weekly. He feeds Ocean Nutrition Prime Reef flakes and a cube of mysis daily. He also does weekly 10% water changes. His fish include a yellow tang (zebrasoma flavescent), five green chromis (chromis atripectoralis), a red mandarin (synchiropus splendidius) a coral beauty angel (centropyge bispinosa) and a mated pair of ocellarius clowns (amphiprion ocellarius). His invertebrates include a large green brittle star (ophionereis schayeri), a fire shrimp (lysmata debelius) and an assortment of snails and red-leg hermits. Jarrod started his first tank 2.5 years ago, after falling in love with a mandarin at a local fish store. He considers his mixed-reef tank a work in progress, and attributes his success to patience, frequent testing, and good friends in the hobby. He considers himself an SPS connoisseur, but is most proud of “having the biggest brains in Tulsa.”
