JEFF & RICHARD PRINCE, OMAS MEMBERS
|
This month's feature OMAS tanks belong
to Jeff and Richard Prince of Jenks. Jeff is a JROTC teacher at Jenks High
School, and his son Richard is a volunteer at the Jenks Aquarium with over 900
hours of volunteer work. Richard is a senior at Jenks High School and is
working towards going to Texas A&M for a degree in Marine Biology. Jeff and
Richard moved to Oklahoma around two years ago from Utah, where they were
active members in the WASATCH Reef Society. They have been members of OMAS for
a little over a year.
The Prince's main display tank is a 72 gallon Oceanic bowfront. They have a Euroreef RS 80 as the primary means of mechanical filtration. They have a 20 gallon long DIY sump with a 5 gallon refugium where chaetomorpha is kept for nutrient export. The lighting consists of a Custom Sea Life hood, where they run two Actinic PC's and two 10K PC's. The Prince's setup employs zero powerheads, all flow is provided from a Quiet One 4000 return pump and an external closed loop Pan World Pump. For maintenance they do weekly ten percent water changes. For chemical filtration they run carbon in a filter sock as well as RowaPhos in a Two Little Fishies Phosphate reactor. Their tank inhabitants consist of a Cherub Angel (Entropy argil), Sailfin Tang (Zebrasoma veliferum), two Green Chromis (Chromis atripectoralis), two Firefish (Nemateleotris magnificent), three Purple Chromis (Chromis Scotti), two Tomato Clownfish (Amphiprion nigripes), Green Mandarin (Synchiropus splendidus), a Scooter Blenny (Synchiropus ocellatus), and a Six Wrasse (Pseudocheilinus hexataenia). As far as invertebrates go, they have many, many, different coral species consisting of LPS, SPS, soft corals, and zoanthids. Richard also has a 12 gallon Nanocube DX, with around 30 pounds of live rock. His inhabitants include a Carpenters Flasher Wrasse (Paracheilinus carpenteri), a Citron Clown Goby (Gobiodon sp.), Highfin Goby (Stonogobiops nematodes), and a Green Banded Goby (Gobiosoma multifasciatum). He also has a pistol shrimp that takes up residence with one of the gobies. Richard keeps an assortment of soft and hard corals in his nano. The prince's are also planning a third tank in the near future. It will be a 55 gallon Reef Ready with corner overflow. They are currently undecided as to what the inhabitants of the new tank will be. JEFF'S 72 GALLON BOW FRONT
